All my childhood, my father told me stories of a country not so far away. A country where he was born, a country so beautiful and holy, a country my grandfather died for. And I wondered and imagined until one day my parents took me to Palestine.
Having lived abroad all my life, the first time I had the chance to visit Palestine was in the year 2000. I fell in love with my home and my people. There was so much beauty around me, so much culture and art it filled my heart with joy and I wished we had a chance to show this to the world. Life took me along many paths and my dream of beautiful Palestinian art and creations was postponed. Every time I spoke to my own children now of Palestine, I was overwhelmed again with wanting to show them and the world how beautiful our culture is.
After my second and third visit to Palestine, it became clear to me that it was time. Time to take this beautiful art and create new ways to showcase it to the world while at the same time supporting Palestinian artists and cultural institutions within Palestine.
There are many financial, execution and logistic challenges involved but I insist on staying true to the cause and to help support Palestinian art and culture via Palestine Cultural Innovation.
Thank you for following and being part of this journey. It is a meaningful one that fills your heart with beautiful colors and indescribable joy, knowing that your support is the reason behind a Palestinian woman’s celebration dance.
All my love,
Dareen Salman
